Bonzai Software 3Y-Anniversary, B.Sc. received, Volumetric smoke 31.10.2007
BonzaiSoftware.com is 3 years online! Thanks for your support!
I'm always trying to improve the site. If you have any comments, suggestions, critiques or questions feel free to contact me.

On 13th July 2007 I received my Bachelor degree (B.Sc.) in Computer Science from the University of Applied Science in Darmstadt (h_da). :)

There's also a new demo about rendering volumetric smoke using GLSL shaders:

OpenGL Demos NPR OpenGL Demo 20.07.2007
This new demo shows non-photorealistic rendering of 3D-scenes using GLSL shaders. There are three kinds of non-photorealistic rendering in this demo: Cartoon Shading, Pencil Shading and Ink Shading.

Bonzai Software 2 Years BonzaiSoftware.com 30.10.2006
BonzaiSoftware.com is 2 Years Online!
I'm still working on new demos which will be released soon.

Currently I'm doing an internship at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics in Darmstadt (Germany). There I'll develop a system for highly dynamic illuminations of interiors.

Bonzai Software Collision Detection Tutorial & Site Redesigned 04.08.2006
Here's a small tutorial about the collision detection algorithm I used for some of my demos.

As you can see, I also found some time to redesign and restructure my site a bit.

OpenGL Demos PhysX & Shadows 17.05.2006
This demo shows my physics playground together with soft shadow mapping. The AGEIA PhysX SDK is used for the physics effects. The demo features many rigid bodies and allows you to interact with the scene by throwing boxes or a rag doll. The soft shadow mapping uses the EXT_framebuffer_object extension for render-to-texture operations. A GLSL shader blurs the shadow to produce soft, fuzzy shadows.

OpenGL Demos Mandelbrot Viewer 02.04.2006
This new demo shows the rendering of the Mandelbrot set using GLSL shaders and FBOs. It allows the user to change the number of iterations and the visualization of the set. Category: Useless, but nice to watch.

OpenGL Demos Relief Mapping Demo Released! 22.01.2006
A new OpenGL demo is now available. This time it shows Relief Mapping, a dynamic sky and HDR Rendering. The Relief Mapping shader uses two linear searches and depth correction for correct silhouettes along surface intersections. The sky shader allows you to control the cloud density and the cloud clover. Finally a HDR bloom shader smoothes the scene.

Bonzai Software Site & Tutorial Update 13.01.2006
I made a small change to the demo section. Now each page shows you which extensions are required to run the demo. Some of the demos may also run without the support for the stated extensions, but not all effects will be visible.

The water tutorial was also updated. I added a flow chart showing how the effect is composed and fixed some errors. This was the last update for the tutorial, please check the forum for future updates.

Bonzai Software 1st Anniversary 30.10.2005
1 year BonzaiSoftware!
One year ago I posted the first news on BonzaiSoftware.com. Since then I spent much time on the site and I hope you like it.
I wrote a small anniversary article about the beginning of BonzaiSoftware.com and why I started programming:

Other Projects Book Reviews 14.09.2005
Since books are still the best source for informations I created a review section. I will present some books related to OpenGL graphics and game programming.

The first reviews are about two really great books every OpenGL programmer should have: The "OpenGL SuperBible" by Richard S. Wright, Jr. and Benjamin Lipchak, and Eric Lengyel's "Mathematics for 3D Game Programming and Computer Graphics".

Bonzai Software Forum Online 14.08.2005
The BonzaiSoftware Feedback-Forum is online. If you have any problems running one of my demos you can post your questions here. Of course this is also the right place to comment the demos. Registration is free, but not required.

I updated the water tutorial and fixed some small errors. I'd like to thank all the people who wrote me for their feedback!

Bonzai Software OpenGL Glow Demo, BS Ray 29.05.2005
Three months have gone since my last update. Although I have to do much things for my study I haven't slept and made a new demo about a glow post-processing effect. It should be released much earlier, but because I always like to make a little scene for my demos it took a bit longer. The demo also features: Per-Pixel Lighting, Stencil Shadows and texture perturbation effects. All shaders are written in the OpenGL Shading language (GLSL), so you need a GLSL compatible graphics card to run this demo.

BS Ray is simple ray tracer. Currently (Version 0.01) it hasn't much features, but I'll improve it from time to time. I tried to make it easy to make custom scenes, a mini-tutorial describing a simple scene is included.

The Lost City pages are also updated. I'm currently planning all of the details, so nothing new about the game itself. A first concept rendering is available, it is a small level which I currently use for testing.

OpenGL Demos Water-Fire-Sky: Rendering of Water, Fire and Sky including OpenGL Tutorial 09.03.2005
I made a new demo showing the rendering of clean and foggy water, fire and sky. The demo also features y-Axis billboarding and simple collision detection/response. A tutorial about the water effect is included.
