OpenGL Demos Depth Blur Demo 15.01.2005
Depth-Blur is a natural effect. Objects which are far away from the viewer appear blurred. This effect also automatically reduces aliasing to a minimum.

OpenGL Demos RTT-FX 2 and Galton's Board 08.12.2004
I made a new version of RTT-FX (RTT-FX 2). The new effects are: color inversion, laplacian edge detection and blur.

Galton's Board is, as the name says, a simulation of Galton's Board. There are no spectacular effects, just some spheres and circles, but it is fun to watch it.

You may also noticed that I redesigned this page completly (once again).

OpenGL Demos Snake & Render-to-Texture Demo 30.10.2004
Bonzai Software has a new host! This means more content and fast downloads.

Snake is Back! I made a OpenGL version of snake, called Simple Snake. Download and Play!

There is a new demo showing some Render-To-Texture Effects (RTT FX). The demo features a camera, which is watching you, a refractive sphere and some water with reflections and refraction.

It was time for a little refreshing of my site. Some things changed:
-Combat Engine screenshot page should load faster.
-Added Lost City Project
-Added Soft Stencil Shadows, Refraction Shader to Other Projects
-Removed Box Combat and SpacemanGL.
-Since my Webspace is limited, movies are download-only
-Moved Naturise Engine to Other Projects.
-You can now download a demo of the Naturise Engine.

During my holidays I started a new project called Lost City. More infos under Lost City Info.

There are 2 new Combat Engine movies. The first is a bit old, I just forgot to upload it. The second movie shows the new features mentioned in my last news post.
I'm currently rewriting the renderer. It will be faster, more flexible and more optimized.

Today was my matriculation. This means I will study Computer Science at the University of Applied Science (FH) in Darmstadt. The semester starts on 4th October, so I have 2 more months to relax.

Combat Engine & Personal - I'm back (with some cool effects) 09.06.04
I had my final examinations two weeks ago, and I'm almost done with school :) . So I hadn't much time to improve my engine but even though here are some Combat Engine News:
  • Added Parallax Mapping. Very cool effect and it is easy to do it. Surfaces now look like they are 3D. But specular lighting gets lost (don't know why at the moment).
  • Added Gloss Mapping. You can use it to simulate surfaces that aren't completely reflective.
  • There is now a Quake-like console. It already has a few commands, but nothing special

I will post some screens or a movie soon.
There is also a new article about the math behind Combat Engine's lighting system with some new screens.
The About-Page was also updated with some more personal information.

Combat Engine - 3D Sound! 09.04.04
The Combat Engine now features dynamic 3D positional sound using the OpenAL API! This means you can hear from where the sound comes. It will also have a Doppler Effect.

Naturise Engine - Model Loading & New Screens 10.03.04
The Naturise Engine ist now able to load and display .nem(Naturise Engine Model) files. The old grass and trees were replaced with Models. There are also 3 new screenshots.

Combat Engine - ARB-Path 27.02.04
There is now an ARB-Path available. The main improvement is the lighting. It now uses Vertex and Fragment Programs. This means true per-pixel light calculations instead of interpolating the light across the polygon like Dot3 Bump Mapping. The ARB-Path requires a Radeon9500/GeForceFX and higher graphics card.
There are 2 new movies showing the new lighting. The last two movies can be watched online. Enjoy!

Combat Engine - added Dot3 Bump Mapping & Screenshots 03.02.04
The Combat Engine now features dynamic Dot3 Bump Mapping! Surfaces look much better with this. The only disadvantage is that it is Per-Vertex. But it is just thought as a fallback for older hardware and as a tuning option. I'm also working on Per-Pixel Bump Mapping using a fragment shader.
There are some new Screenshots showing this effect.

Combat Engine - Cylinders and their shadows Done! 20.12.2003
The Cylinder-Primitive is now finished. I will soon add a new screenshot which shows the Primitive. Now you can add a lot of round things to your Level. If I got enough time, I'll add the ability to have a different top and bottom radius.

I'm currently working on the Cylinder-Primitive. The only thing left to do is to implement their shadow volumes, which is also very simple, but I don't have enough time at the moment.
